Added a 997 to my garage - good and bad news!
I have in the last few weeks - while I was looking for the right car - probably read every post on this forum and Rennlist, both have been invaluable and the best source of information. Thank you to all that contribute.
To introduce myself, I purchased a 2006 Cayman - Manual - new, traded for a 2009 Cayman with PDK and Chrono Package. In the last few months I added the paddle steering wheel and PSE. I also had a 2006 M3 convertible SMG ( less than 14,000 miles). I liked the M3, however to my eyes it looked outdated and the SMG box was never my favorite. To cut a long story short I part traded the M3 for the car you see below - 2006 Carrera S Cabriolet - article silver, chrono package, short shifter, PSE, 29,000 miles and CPO for 2 years. That was the good news.
After one hour of taking delivery of the car, I was out jogging with my Dog and I ruptured my Achilles tendon - right leg. I had surgery last week and now find myself in a cast for 6 weeks then a boot for 6 weeks......so I cannot drive for 3 months!!!! That was the bad news!
Luckily my wife can drive the 911, she previously had a Cayenne S and is at home with a manual car, we also previously attended the Porsche Driving School and was privileged to have Hurley Haywood as our instructor.
Anyway all I can say is that it SUCKS to be a passenger!!..and no room for my crutches!!

Best of health & a speedy recovery for a nice spring drive.
While you are sitting around do a search on the "Forums" for the Torx bolts on the Cab's frame & read up on 303 Aerospace Protectant: http://www.303products.com/shop303/i...protectant.cfm

Hope you get better.
On a different note, I have been thinking of getting a lift as well to store more cars. How tall is your ceiling so that you can store two cars. Which brand lift is it. Also, any idea whether it is designed for earthquake regions?

It's a 'Revolution' lift, the ceiling is about 11ft, it's s tight fit, I had to relocate the garage door opener from the center of the door to the far side. It can be bolted to the floor but it's free standing. It takes about 5 minutes to switch the cars. It's work off 110v. I would recommend a lift to anyone who has the space and wants to keep all their cars snug.
So you connected the lift to the circuit panel? Thought these lifts worked on compressors. So you need about 11ft? Also is the bottom of the car accesesble for lets say oil changes i cant tell from the picture. What do those lifts go for? Thanks for the info
Have a speedy recovery. I had a severe ankle sprain while I was shopping for my 911 that took me out of the market for 6 weeks. Know another guy who's selling his MT 997 due to an Achilles rupture.
Great color combo, too bad about your injury. Hope your wife will let you have your car back in three months.
As for the garage door, you forgot to mention the need to increase the rise height on your garage door in order to allow you to get the bottom car out while there's a car on top.
