Guys I am not sure if you are aware of our kits or not, but we have a ton of great info listed on our website here:

http://www.suncoastparts.com/categor..._MAINTKIT.html

We list what parts should be included at the certain mileage and what needs to be inspected.

Let me know if you have any other questions. We would be happy to help!

Ryan, why don`t you guys sell oil too? it would simplify life a bit to buy all stuff from same place.

Dealer in NY wanted 400+ for a brake flush. I bought a motive from amazon for ~60 and did it myself for $25 more

- overall diagnosis of car by connecting to a computer

Is that reasonable?
20K service is called an intermediate service. It includes the oil and filter, pollen air (cabin) filter, engine air filter, diag on computer + resetting service light, cleaning front air dams (bumper), lubrication of locks and all hinges (doors, front and rear latch), battery testing, cleaning front drains, and total inspection of the car (brakes, tires, chassis, etc).

I think their rate is about $130 per hour - and they usually charge 2.50-3.00 hours. Usually discounts are given if you service regularly there. If your handy you could probably do it yourself, but like the others said, its probably much easier and thorough.

You don't have to do it yourself to make a smart decision. The poster also suggested taking it to an indy. I spent less than half what my dealer was asking for on my 20k service at an indy with all work done by a Porsche certified mechanic.

It takes all but 5 mins to ask around on the forums for an indy. That's how long it took for me years ago and that's in sparsely populated Canada. It's not about being "baller" and throwing $500 away to a dealer who overcharges for equivalent services. We drive Porsches, not Veyrons...

So if I offered you $500 to spend an afternoon doing a hot greasy chore, that would appeal? Man, the economy is worse than I realized.

I repeat: do that knowing you're hurting the resale value of your car, and only if the entertainment value is worth a half-day of your recreation time. Otherwise... that's why we have paid minions.

Ahhh. You asked whether the dealer's estimate was 'reasonable'. What you really meant was "Oops. I can't afford this. Can I do it myself?" Clearly, the answer is yes. If you know how. And if you don't you can learn easily. That's what forums and friends are for.

You'll enjoy it, and you can even buy complete kits from places like Suncoast.

While I can't disagree with the posts here relative to ways to save money on the 20 k service, there is one point that needs mentioning. Developing a relationship with your dealer can be beneficial if you have an issue you want Porsche to pony up for when your car is just out of warranty or, if still under warranty, when the issue isn't a cut and dry warranty repair. They will often go to bat for a regular customer. The only way to develop that relationship is to become a regular customer of their service department. Now that doesn't mean you can't look for ways to reduce your cost like doing your own cabin filter for $25 and 3 minutes of your time. But, for the stuff you don't care to do let 'em do it, pay the going rate, and thank 'em when your done. If your car is well out of warranty find a reputable independent and start the process with them. OP or indy, they'll appreciate your business and you'll have folks you can turn to when our car needs service.

I'll add another point. For the price, I'm seriously guessing that they are including a brake flush in the price. I recall a dealer price can be $400. THAT job can easily be done by an indi. For $500 you get a dealer service and a real check for issues. Not that much more than an indi. It is definitely worth it if you are under warranty, which I see you commented that you were not. A good dealer will pay closer attention to your car than most indi's and would point out issues others might miss. Check to see if the brake flush was included. I had a dealer do the 20k and an indi do the brake flush. Worked out really well.

These days, I would say yes. I agree with one other response.. "is your time worth the money". for the past 5 years i've learned to accept an avg of $800-1500 per vehicle service for luxury/sports cars. however, I will say I enjoy getting my hands a lil dirty if my schedule permits.

Good Luck.

oil/filter change = $165 here
air/cabin filter = DIY, not difficult at all
diagnosis = free, at least at my dealer, they do free quarterly inspections, plug it in the computer, they are always looking for something to fix, extra money in their pockets.
