Love the black stone guards! I'm biased of course! If you have black wheels, gotta go with black stone guards! I do love the black or dark car with these as well!

Stoneguards

I bought my first set on E-BAY, threw them out before putting them on. Wrong fitment, not as thick. Stick w OE from Suncoast.

Please tolerate this question. If the stock guards aren't too messed up could I just apply the black ones over the existing clear ones?

I suspect you could but . . . why? I think the downside would be the cumulative thickness of the 2 and the apparent edge that would result. The plus side is twice as much protection from rocks, stones, etc.

The removal of the old stone guard is fast and easy. Just a heat gun (hair dryer) is all you need. I suspect the bond would be better on the painted surface as opposed to a pitted or bumpy layer of old film.

I'm certainly not an expert in this area. Maybe someone w/ more knowledge or experience will pipe in.

I didn't take my original stone guards off. I wasn't sure that I would like the blacked out look. Also, I was afraid it would rip the clear coat off the car. Adding a second stone guard would make it too think, so we vinyl'd over the clear guards. You could check out my albums on here. it turned out pretty well and its holding up pretty well too.

I figure when I get sick of the look, I can just peel it off!

Removing was easy. Zero chance of paint issues. Remove, clean and reapply new ones.

They might interfere w/ the air intakes on a turbo car.

You should be able to simply trim them to fit properly.
