update and fuel additive

I took my 06 C2 in for a check up at 50k. I bought it at 41k and wanted to ensure all was well. Anyway as I previously posted, I recently noticed that the car was just slightly harder to start when it was warm than when cold. My mechanic a very highly recommended German guy who simply loves cars checked it out and said I will need a new battery with a higher amperage. He said that the aftermarket battery in the car was under amperage. He also added a couple of cans of an unk european (I think) fuel additive. He really didn't want to tell me what it was. He said to come back for more after a few more tank are burned. I've run through two tanks of gas since and the minor starting issue seems solved. My questions are: what is the appropriate amperage rating for a 06 C2? and does anyone out there in Porsche land have a clue what this mystery liquid might be?

Thanks much

Gary

"noticed that the car was just slightly harder to start when it was warm than when cold"

You probably have a known problem with this year car. The Battery cable from the alternator to the starter. $ 99.00 at Suncoast plus labor.

I haven't done it yet but I am getting the feeling I won't have a choice.

The Suncoast site with the part basically tells you how to check if this problem. A voltage drop at the alternator versus what you get at the battery.

I suspect it will be different readings with a hot engine versus a cold engine.

What dndodd said, it's the cable. I'm at 52K, Porsche has recommended I replace this cable. Until it really starts to go, I'm not going to worry.

Heard its a long labor job i think the dealer does it for 1k or so. To replace the alt cable.

I have heard varying quotes on the labor cost. Anywhere from $200.00 to your number.

If you have tools and some talent you could do it your self.

At least the alternator and the plenum need to be removed possibly a little more of the intake but it can be done w/o lowering the engine.

As far as that mystery fuel additive, I'm guessing if the guy is German, it's something from Red Line. Maybe their Fuel System Cleaner. The few German-American mechanics that I know like their products.

My Benz guy recommends Techron, but no more than three bottles between oil changes.
