2011 c2gts

Hey guys,

I'm thinking about buying a demo 2011 C2GTS that was apparently driven by a Porsche exec. It has 6,500 miles and these options:

Automatically Dimming Interior & Exterior Mirrors
Bose Surround Sound System
Dynamic Cornering Lights
Extended Navigation Module for PCM 3.0
Front Seats Multi-Stage Heating System
Limited Slip Rear Differential Lock
Rear Lights in Clear Glass Optics
Sport Chrono Package Plus
Sports Suspension
XM Radio

It is listed at $99,000. How much is this car worth/should I pay for it? I was thinking about getting a 991 C2S but if this is a good deal, I might jump on this and get a 991 Turbo later.

Thanks!

I was thinking 20% off list, 22k sounds abount right. If its a color combo you like and the new 991 is out, a nearly new, just broken in GTS its a fantastic way to go. That car has nice options..... Good luck!

If that's a 6MT and not PDK, I would definitely get a DME readout on it. I looked into a "dealer demo" car during my search, asked for the DME, never got a reply. Needless to say, I didn't touch that car! OH, and BTW, I have a friend who just bought a NEW 2012 997.2 C4S Cab and got 17% discount. You should get much more given that car is... USED (of course discount based on original MSRP).

It's a PDK car and they offered me $96,000 - MSRP was $117,000. What's a DME readout? And what am I looking for?

DME gives you an idea of how hard or how stupid the previous owner was.

The DME readout gives a lot of information on the car. Rev ranges is just one of the items but seems to be the number 1 item most are interested in. Going beyond range 2 can get into the grey area for warranty.

With a PDK car a need for the DME rev range readout isn't a big deal. If it was a six speed then the DME readout is important. I'd still ask for a readout. It will show total hours on the engine. Divide that into total miles and you will get an average mph driven. Something on the order of 35 mph is about normal. You can also find out if the airbag has deployed.

I picked up an 11 GTS, new, with the same sticker price and nearly the same options for $102k.

If you get the DME readout please post if any numbers show up in range 1. There's been a bit of debate as to whether or not anything will show up on a PDK.

The car should come with the first years service completed. If not I would ask for it to be completed. If the rear tires have not been changed my guess is they will need to changed. Can you get a CPO? You really don't need it but it is cheap if you plan to hang onto the car and put a lot of miles on it.

Good luck!

I didn't think a PDK car could get into range 2. As to the numbers my 09 C2S was very similar and CPOd.

Hey Alan,

I was just wondering how much you paid for your GTS and if you had leased it or not. I was going to send a PM, but its not letting me .

**from my dealer**
For reference: An "ignition" is one single spark plug firing. There are 3 ignitions per RPM, so they rack up VERY quickly.... for a track car, it is regular to see hundreds of thousands of zone 1 'ignitions'

Zone 1 - This is redline- essentially, hitting the rev-limiter once will produce tens or hundreds of ignitions. These will not damage the engine at all.

Zone 2 - Only a few RPM's over redline - Essentially you will have a handful of Zone 2 ignitions even if you hit the rev limiter. Again, these are not hard on the engine.

Zone 3 - and above are where it starts to get rough on the engine. These only happen when someone downshifts to a lower gear, forcing the engine above the range where the rev-limiter would cut in. PDK transmissions will NOT allow any Zone 3 over-revs to occur.
