I am in the process of getting some Dectanes LED tail lights, and I have the option of clear or smoked. I am pretty torn between the two, what do you all think? My car is a 05 997 in seal grey.

 

smoked for sure! i think one of 6speed member got a pict of his car with smoked on seal grey also. Check out the "let's see your rear" thread, i believe i saw the pict there.

 

I have the smoked on a black and it gives the car a little special touch So go for the smoked.

 

Get the smoked ones. Where are you ordering these? How much?

They are the Depo/Dectane LED lights on Ebay, roughly $600 shipped, and in stock in the US

I just ordered the Dectane's from Frank in Germany (Orange Tuning). $568 delivered. Mine are somewhere over the Atlantic at the moment.

I ordered the clear rather than the smoked for my basalt black because I thought it would look more OEM, although had I not minded the 'aftermarket' look I would probably have chosen smoked for looks. YMMV.

NO smoke!

You can have your taillights smoked with a Lamin-x (www.lamin-x.com) film by a good tint guy for around $100. (you can even attempt it yourself if u are brave) It's just a film, it can be easily removed, you can choose your level of smoke, it's not expensive, and if it's done well nobody but you will be any the wiser. If you order Dectanes already smoked you are stuck with it.

I had same dilemma myself when ordering my Dectanes (see my pics)
I opted for smoked centers and they look great. I may still do a light smoke "gunsmoke" to give them a richer amber. But at least its reversible.
