Question wheel width for track days

I am looking for track wheels to use on my 2007 C2S. I am thinking about some O.Z. wheels from tirerack.

I found some used Porsche 5 spoke wheels from a local Porsche dealer and they are asking around $600. However, the fronts are 18" x 8" and the rears are 18" x 10", so I am interested in these since I could save some money just for track wheels.

However, am I ok giving up the 1"width on the rear wheels? or should I wait and be better off getting wheels that are 11" wide in the bacK?

Those sound like stock carrera III wheels? I have those and put Toyo R888 245 front and 295 rears on them. They fit well and beat the snot out of my PS2s around a track.

The backs had Hoosier 305s on them when I bought them. The previous owner said that was the max you could get on those rims for a 997.1.

The O.Z. would look much nicer, though, and would be a little bit lighter.

I run a 315 on the back.

OP, get at least 8.5 and 11's for the track. Down the line you will want to get a wider tire. If not they are easy to sell if you don't want them.

This is what my indy recommends when I go to dedicated track tries.

Yep, at least that wide. I'll be looking for 9s in front & 12s in the back when I get dedicated track wheels. Look in the track forum and see what those guys are running. I think they post all the right sizes (and offsets to make 'em work).
