So I've been seriously looking to purchase one of these beautiful machines for several months now. I've been on auto trader, cars.com, craigslist, and even local dealerships. Unfortunately still haven't had any luck finding my spec in my price range. Is there somewhere else I should be looking? Any advice on searching would truly helpful.

Looking for an 09 or higher C2, white on black, manual trans with pasm. I can work with the rest from there...

keep looking and be patient. Drive as many as you can afford with your time. You'll learn a lot about these cars by having seat time in a bunch of them. Pay attention to clutch feel, road noise (indicator of tire issues), alignment, rattles, all functions of the PCM and lighting. Look under them for signs of past oil (Black residue) or coolant leaks (White residue).

Have fun, it takes time. Be patient, it is an expensive mistake if you guess wrong. You'll end up tripping over the right one and you'll know it as soon as you drive it.

 

It becomes a full time preoccupation. Search nationwide, keep lists, compare cars and all of a sudden…… there it is. It took me 4 months to find what I was looking for, and in retrospect it was a lot of fun.

 

Just go to porsche.com You can search for used there too. Once you find a card you like google search the vin and see what comes up. I got a $1000 off my car because I found another ad they posted with a cheaper price.

 

I found mine on E-Bay.

E-Bay is a fantastic platform of advertisement for dealers, resellers and individuals. You never have to bid for a Porsche car on E-Bay, you simply call the seller and negotiate directly with them.

Most people who bids on Porsche and exotic cars on E-Bay are either jokers or more likely re-sellers who are trying to get a terrific deal at a very low price. Truth is that you need to take your phone and call.

Don't buy from Porsche Dealers, they are always overpriced.

I got mine from a Motorcars of Georgia, in North Atlanta. Very serious, very nice people and extremely pleased. Plus, I got to drive it for 5 hours on my way back to Raleigh, NC.

Used all the above methods to look and try cars, getting a feel for the market for a few months. I actually Ebay-bid a fair offer on a Porsche that was for sale by an Audi dealer in Phoenix. (first owner traded it in on an R8)

The seller (dealership) contacted me directly by email, informing me that we were very (less than $500) close to a deal, which was well below the "minimum" set on the car auction page at Ebay. It was very direct and no-nonsense, 'we saw your bid and this is the non-published amount you can have the car for, right now, if you want it'.

I've delt with Audi dealers before (bought a '10 A5) and felt comfortable with his professionalism after a bit more discussion. We flew to Phx and picked up the car..everything was exactly as described, no funny business, and I got the car I wanted at the price I wanted, frankly.

Still pretty amazed at that.

I found my 2008 at an out-of-state new car dealer through Autotrader. It was in 2009 when the 2010's were about to come out.... I got a really great deal on a leftover new car!

 

I found mine in the member classifieds of that other board...starts with R and ends in ennlist.

 

As far as my experience goes, that is kind of true.
911s can be like Jeans. Every pair of the same brand and same fit can fit differently.

 

This is fantastic advice from everyone. For the most part, I have been doing this. As a matter of fact I found i found the car. I just didn't act fast enough lesson learned.

Trust me though, when I bring her home, I'll be all over thus forum!
