BMW's? I have owned 5 going back to the '78 320i. EVERY one has been a piece of s---. If the 997S is an interim step get a Lexus.
The BMW can't carry the Lexus' brief case.
Porsche, there really is no substitute.
After you drive the 997S if you can honestly saw there is any BMW you have driven that it on the same dance floor have at it!

 

OK now do you really want to know how I feel about BMW's!

 

I've had lots of BMW's and they do have issues, but my experience with Mercedes has been worse. Although I have yet to have any of them suffer a major oil leak or mechanical failure......

 

I think you should get a coupe and forget the M6...

 

well i live in the UK,which although has the worst weather ,is the biggest market for cabs in europe.We like to pretend its nice !

And what's wrong with the m6 ? Just been tested against a 996 turbo S ,matched the turbo up to 100 mph then obliterated it.The 997s will keep with it until about 60mph because of its superior traction off the line.

Im only talking about the 'S'

 

Why are you tired of your SL55?

 

the Sl55 is a great car,but not a drivers car.

BMWs...ive had loads,no problems and still rate the M5 as the 2nd best car ive had after the 996tt,but the 996 tt car fire and was written off,had no such problems with the BMWs.

Agreed the porsche is a better drivers car,but take into account where i do most of the driving,the M6 will be a better allround car.
I have a 997tt on order anyway but not expecting that for a couple of years,also have an Aston martin V8 arriving next year so that will be interesting.

My M6 is due about Novemebr time.

 

I too was torn on getting either an M5 or M6 to replace my little 3 series. Then drove the 997S and immediately ordered a cab! Comes in early August.
