Normally PPI would be PRE purchase inspection, however in my case it was POST purchase inspection. From my earlier thread I picked up a 1 owner 06 C2S this week from a Honda dealer in Atlanta. I actually won the car on eBay so logistically it was difficult to do a PPI at a dealer (I did however perform my own before buying of course), and with what I paid for the car I was willing to take a risk.
Anyway, I had an appointment today at my local dealer to get the car serviced and give to it a complete inspection. The car only has 25k miles but I elected to do the 40k service since it is 6 years old. $745 later the oil, oil filter, air filter, and cabin filter were all changed and no problems found with the car. I had them pull the over revs from the DME and it was fine too.
I had budgeted $2000 to fix unexpected problems but since it checked out in good shape I celebrated by ordering a set of LED tails (depo type) that should be here next week.
Bad weather here but pics to follow!

The early years of 997, in spite of all the talk about RMS, IMS, etc) are pretty bulletproof. Good idea having a Porsche dealer give it a once over just for peace of mind. I'm sure you'll sleep better tonight knowing your C2S is sound. I did the same when I bought mine way back in 2007 just to make sure that all was well. It still had some warranty left so I wanted my local Porsche dealer to do a basic service so they had a baseline. They in fact did a few mandatory updates (exhaust tips, air plenum, etc) that weren't done.
Congratulations on your 997 ownership!
Congratulations on your 997 ownership!
good news!
what people doesn't realize when talking about IMS terror is the the very, very early days of the 997 were the last day of the 996's.... so a lot of details got ironed out by them.
congrats on the car!

Congrats. Now we need to see those pics. Coming down your way for PSDS April 10-11. I hear the 991 has made it there as well as they are being integrated in the fleet along with existing 997s until they hit a certain mileage and then are sold to dealer(s) in the SE.
I did something similar. I was all set to buy a Mercedes AMG, noticed a beautiful used 2005 997 on the (non-Porsche) dealer lot, test drove it, and (a little stupidly, in hindsight) bought it on the spot without a PPI. I took it into my local dealership the next week and they gave it a full inspection and thumbs up (I did buy an extended warranty there, just to be safe). I took it back for a service a few months later and had them inspect it again and, again, all looks good. Six months into my life as a Porsche owner, and I couldn't be happier with it. Congratulations on your new car. Enjoy it!
Cool. I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun. I've got a lot of laps around Barber on a motorcycle but none in a car.
I'll get some pics up as soon as the new tail lights get here.

The price difference between what the same car at a Porsche dealer would have cost and what I ended up paying at a dealer that didn't want to try to retail the car was significant enough for me to take the risk.
Plus I felt comfortable enough with my own ability to judge the condition of the car. I crawled all over and under it and took a nice long test drive before going in to sign the paperwork.
My DD is an 01 E55. It needs front brakes and would you believe that just front rotors and pads for that car cost more than a full set for the Porsche?
