For those that use a roof-mounted bike carrier...

...how fast are you comfortable crusing on the highway while carrying a bike? And how much of a mpg hit do you notice?

I've never paid attention to the gas mileage hit. I don't like to exceed 80 mph with a bike on the roof. I will say, though, that yesterday I came back from San Diego to Redlands with two bikes on top of my Panamera and spent much of the drive at around 85 mph. Porsche crossbars with Rocky Mounts bike adapters make for a very stable and solid system.

Porsche rails with rocky mounts attachments on my 997.1
Totally solid IMO. I know I've hit a hundred a time or two with my on top...I don't worry about it, a little loud ..but hey...can't fit it inside.

Thanks!

Can you really not fit a bike inside even if you pull both wheels and have no passnegers (leaving the front passenger seat pushed forward if necessary)?
