Track video

Getting prepped for a new season.

This is a video from my last session at the end of last year.

Looking for comments and criticisms to help improve my driving.

I have lots of issues in turn 5 (the sharp left hander, not using the whole track)

This run is without most of the mods you see my sig which were added after this event.

I didn't have the equipment to move the camera behind me. I will be able to do that this year.

Thanks

thanks..

I liked to use more track at turn 5...its a slow, throw away turn and I am thinking of trying to get down to second instead of third (from fourth) to power out.

Will need to do it pretty quickly...

yeah....IMO the corvette was in the wrong run group....lots of power over me but it sure feels good when they get the blue flag.

Thanks Cherbo, the audio is pretty bad.

I'm using a ReplayXD camera, the size of a Chapstick. But the audio is not the best.

nice, I am leaving for VIR tomorrow for pca zone2 and I'll be recording my laps as well. I installed crossbar to mount the gopro on it which will cover my braking/shifting and track angle. I also have Harry's lapt timer app on my phone which I'll be using, can't wait. Good luck this season.

Great...all the best. I also added a crossbar over the winter so I should be able to get the more useful footage you will be getting.

Have fun....

PasPar...

I like NJMP also....I prefer thunderbolt but lightening is also cool.

I stayed in green, yellow and blue run groups for 3 years till I move to white run group in the middle of 2011. I liked the idea of having an instructor with me to pick up pointers and to point out errors.

In the white run group you get a range of drivers from those that don't belong there to those ready for the black run group. You have to keep your head up and anticipate trouble...

See

Buckwheat,
Is 4-5 one of those setups where you have to sacrifice one to get the other? It looks like you are (sort of) slow thru 4 in order to get in position for 5 and then once in 5 it's like, well, I don't need the rest of the track anyway........

You might want to try just going ***** out thru 4 recognizing that you won't be able to get back to the right hand side of the track for 5. That might be okay. If you stay in the middle of track, trail brake and turn in a little early but then get on the gas and use the entire track out area, you might be delighted. The route is (much) shorter and you will certainly be faster between the end of 4 and turn in on 5.

Our track has a similar combo and it drives everyone nuts! It doesn't have a classical line!

Apologies in advance if this has nothing to do with NJMP. Having never been there, I'm just guessing but that's never stopped me before. Best,

I think this is exactly right though I'm not sure if your solution works. The problem I think is that most guys do take turn 5 from the textbook turn-in point, so if there's any kind of traffic on that turn (which there usually is because it's a slow one), you're going to have a bit of an issue if you're looking to make the turn from the middle of the track. Personally, my approach is take both turns on line, just preparing to brake very hard in between to set up for Turn 5. My 4WD drive car also doesn't turn in as sharply as Buck's but does have more grip in a sweeper so that approach suits my dynamics better I think. Anyway, if anyone else has an opinion I'd be happy to hear it though.

Anyone going out there this weekend for Schatt PCA? Season opener! If so pls look for me and come say hi, #80.

Steamboat,

Thanks a bunch...much appreciated you taking the time and breaking it down in such detail.

I think you are spot on and thats a great piece of advice (Its obvious you have terrific track sense never being there and picking up on this.)

I do have an issue seeing thru 4 so I slow down, I should be faster thru 4 and then throw away 5 to some degree.

best
