Is PCM 3.0 from one 997 to another possible?

Has anyone successfully installed a PCM unit from another 997? I have a 2009 c2, and I didn't have nav in my unit, so I got one from a 2010. Worked for a few days and now the only thing that works is the fm radio. I saw another member post something pretty similar recently, but I haven't found a clear answer from any searches I've done. Is it just a programming thing from the dealer (I hope!) or am I in for something more extreme?

PCM is tied to the vehicle's VIN. the dealer needs to program this...

There are posts about this from about 2 years ago. My recollection is it cannot be done. Yes, they are tied to a specific VIN to prevent theft and cannot be reprogrammed to another VIN.

I hope I am wrong, because I am in the same boat - no NAV and thought I could upgrade/add the module (as did the dealer at the time. The 997.2 was just released). Which is what was the thinking back then - turns out, all were wrong.

There were a few people that bought the PCM module with NAV form Suncoast, I believe) and wound up with a "spare" PCM (w/o NAV)

I saw that post that showed it wasn't possible, but that was 2 years ago. Since then Porsche has changed quite a bit in term of programming. I.e. 3rd party integration and such. I have also seen post where people have taken 2.1 units and upgraded to 3.0 units successfully.

Looks like I'll be the one to take on the challenge and will post back on my findings.

For what it's worth. I was considering a c2 without nav unit. Calls d my dealer. They said they would be able to install the required parts for a total of $4g. Stated about $2800 of that would be parts
