Unexpected things on road
What is the most unpredictable situation you got recently while driving?
With my daily citroen i was doing 70 mph on a highway when i noticed something far ahead that i couldnt realize what it was. When i finally passed it i saw it was a wooden chair (!) wrapped in nylon. After a couple of miles i saw the track carrying them stopped roadside.

Though this isn't recent, I still recall quite clearly a vaporized 911 I saw on the Autobahn when we lived in Germany. It didn't seem like there was a piece left that was bigger than a milk jug.
Road debris is a major hazard for low sports cars. It is key to look way in front and spot debris. A wrapped chair is easy to see; smaller stuff not as easy, but must be avoided or major damage or an accident may occur.
I hit a rock on the freeway. Not pebble...a rock. This thing had to be like 6 inches in diameter. I had cars to the left and to the right of me, so even though I saw it up ahead I couldn't switch lanes. Cars ahead of me went over just fine, but I was in my G37...lowered just enough where the rock caught onto the bottom of the plastic lip.
It was the worse sound I could imagine. Loud grinding in the front, and in my rear view mirror I could see all the disintegrating pieces flying out from the rear of the car. Looked like a sandstorm coming out of the back of my car.
Amazingly...no real damage. Rock never touched the painted part of the bumper, just the plastic piece. Underside was fine too.

I Saw a small contractor truck in front but 2 lanes across from me, lose several metal struts ( the one you use to shore up a ceiling ) that bounced onto the 405 freeway towards Long Beach and took down several cars. Could not stop to watch but I am sure these cars were a totally loss. Luckily the traffic was light. Just imagine ! Havoc right there and then.

Following a local driver out of a small town. There was a left turn sign for a road up ahead and the driver slowed like he was going to take the turn. I assumed he was slowing to turn and pulled to the right lane to pass him only to discover that he wasn't turning and my "lane" was actually a short turn-off that ended in a 90 degree turn into a parking lot. By the time I realized what I had done I was at speed and rapidly using up what space I had to get around him. Yes, I could have nailed the brakes (hindsight being 20-20), but I committed and got around him in time to get back on the road. I sure didn't do any good for the reputation of sport car drivers and felt like a dumb-*** for the rest of the ride.
I was following a truck and camper trailer and on the back of the trailer was a bicycle rack.........
That bicycle rack was bouncing around so much that one of the bikes launched up and off of it......then bounced off the road in front of me,which I had to swerve around before the bike found it's way into the ditch!
The funny thing was I was flashing my lights at the guy to pull over(which he wouldn't) and when I finally got up next to him,a few miles later.....he looked at me like I was nuts and was kind of sarcastic when he asked what I wanted. All I told him was "Good luck finding the bike you lost"....and I drove off!
