OT: What do you guys do to clean your rims?
SubscribeHi, I'm new to the forum!
I have a yellow '05 997. Sorry if this post has been created previously, though I haven't found one precisely for this subject. My rims seem to have oil spots that look like small splash spots on the chrome lip and are proving difficult to remove. I want them gone! lol. I was wondering if anyone has experienced and had to remove these before? If so, what would be the best/easiest way to deal with them? Thanks!

I use P21S wheel cleaner and a brush.

+1 P21S is great stuff. Just do a good wax and future washes just require a bit of P21S. Hose the wheels off. 85% clean. Just requires a bit of washing and detailing.Originally Posted by ecostellodo

My local Porsche dealer always cleaned my car whenever it went in for anything and did an amazing job with the wheels, they used a Wurth wheel cleaner, spray on, quick wipe with a sponge if really dirty, then pressure wash off. If its just a couple of weeks worth of buildup, squirt on and wait 5 mins and pressure wash off. It was like magic, so I bought a big container of it. Its pink and smells nice, I don't see it on their US web site, but they have an eco version. If its anywhere as good, buy some!

Yeah, but it's under the black brake dust and is much more difficult to clean. Thanks for the advice! I'll be sure to pick some up!Originally Posted by ecostellodo

used to use P21s gel extensively however lately i have been using sonax wheel cleaner, besides it turns from green to after it eats iron particles, it does great job of cleaning chemically before you agitate the wheel surface with a brush

I use a power sprayer. You can use any good wheel cleaner. Unless you let them get pretty funky, they should pretty much wipe clean.
I love Sonax. Makes wheel cleaning a piece of cake. Just spray, agitate with a brush, and rinse with a hose. It gets 90% of the dirt off. If you want, you can take the last 10% off with a rag, but it'll just get dirty again.
I also finish off with Armor All Wheel Protectant. Repels dirt and brake dust.
They're both amazing products.

I second that on the Armor All Wheel Protectant. I have done comparisons with one side of the car with and one without, and it really does cut down on the amount of brake dust that sticks to the wheel in between washes. Especially helpful here in the NW where it rains all the time, and I HATE how clean wheels get messed up in a blink...!Originally Posted by gasongasoff
