Updated Pics of the GTS - Added Black Stone Guards
I changed the all-black "Carrera GTS" script by replacing it with a simple "GTS" on the engine cover. I think it looks good on the white car and makes it just a little distinctive. I've seen a black GTS in which the rear script was an all-red GTS - I thought that looked really nice as well.
If the theme is retro, I almost feel like the script at the bottom of the door in black is good - but it just needs to be bigger. I thought there was someone on here that does custom vinyl...
Executive Decision: Black Stone Guards are coming off...just submitted the order with Suncoast for the clears. More $$$ down the drain...oh well.
The more I compared the two, the more I realized I preferred the clean look I had with the clears, especially with the clear tails & platinum silver.
Too bad those things aren't reusable.

Good move. I prefer the clean look to the retro look - although it was definitely an admirable attempt. I have arctic silver and pondered the black guards as well. I'm sticking with clear.

I have a white 2008 C2S, and the first thing I did was add black stone guards. Everyone comments. Smallest thing, but it gets noticed. The immediately yellowing "clear" ones looked shabby, and I would not go back. Like that you blacked out the valance. On my list. Good work.
As of this afternoon, the black stone guards are no more. It took a grand total of 30 minutes to replace with the clears:
- use (wife's) hair dryer to help remove black guard
- clean the area with soap/water mixture
- spray area liberally with soap/water
- pull new stone guard from paper and spray sticky side with soap/water
- slide new stone guard into place
- use squeegee to push all bubbles out
- go to other side of car and repeat
Very easy job and doesn't appear to have any bubbles formed. Now it's time to get some new wheels ordered to fill out those rear hips!

Here's a thought everyone. If you are not sure if you will like the black stone guards OR if you want to change it up as often as you like....Just buy a $8.00 can of black plastidip, tape your shape and spray on a few coats. Take you less then 10 minutes and it peels right off. (hell, try red blue, yellow, purple, pink, gold, whatever your flavor of the week). I do it for autocross to protect my clears from the cones. Works great, looks great. I will post some pics next time I do it. Check out www.dipyourcar.com.

Which begs the question: which is the "cleaner" look? The clear stone guards look great when brand new, but quickly turn yellow. They also pick up a dirty line around the edge of the guard which is well nigh impossible to get clean.
So the definition of cleaner look depends greatly on how long the guards have been there. I had the clear guards for almost a year, but at this point the black guards look much cleaner.
