Updated Pics of the GTS - Added Black Stone Guards

I finally had my black stone guards installed and cleaned her up real good, so thought I'd post some pics and get your feedback. I used the Porsche Bug Remover (or whatever they call it) before washing her, and I love it. The front end and side mirrors haven't been this clean since I bought her.

To be honest, I'm not sold on the stone guards. I like the added retro look and they seem to add a sportier look as well, but the car looked so much cleaner, and even longer with the clears. They also seem to accentuate how much the car needs spacers...but as CLs, spacers aren't an option.

Tell me what you think. I'm also working on a couple of subtle interior updates over the next couple of weeks...more to come:

Exterior Mods:
Black Stone Guards (Suncoast)
Black Center Caps (BumperPlugs)
Front Intake Screens (Rennline)
Clear Side Markers (Dealer)
Silver Hood Crest (can't remember)

I think they look OK, and I don't dislike them, but I think I like the clear ones better.

I like them. Just a little retro but it works. Ducktail and you're set!

I'll say that they are growing on me, but when I check pics before they were installed, I see a few that make me wonder. But as mentioned earlier, the biggest issue I have isn't the guards, but the rear wheels not sitting wide enough. To me, the black guards accentuate that problem, but the also seem to add to the shape of the WB rear from a 3/4 view.

Now if only I could figure out a way to push those rear wheels out without buying a new set of wheels and/or converting back to 5-lug. I created another thread about the possibility of an extended length CenterLock hub, but that thread went nowhere in terms of ideas:

I'd never even consider spacers. Turns your wheels in to rock throwing devices.

I get the spacer thing, but having had them on previous PCars it was never an issue for me. But I really can't stand the feeling of the wheels not being placed as wide as I think they should be.

And as for the Ducktail: I love it...on other people's cars. The active rear engine lid is one of the small features I love on 911s (of our time).

I think they look good in black or clear. If you like and are going for the old school retro look, then black is the choice. I prefer the contemporary look, but I cannot say the blck guards look bad.

Keep the black ones on, they make your car look different and unique.

I have a white GTS. It came with clear stone guards, but I've replaced them with black guards. I think I actually like the look of the clear better when they're BRAND NEW - but they don't stay that way. Mine quickly yellowed (the car is now 15 months old) and they pick up a dirty black line around the edge. They started looking bad pretty quickly. So it's either replace the clears regularly - or install the black ones. I went with the latter choice.

It might not be the same issue with a different colored car, but on white the clear guards look bad pretty quickly.

I picked up the Stone Guards from Suncoast here:http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...e=9972gtsexacc

As for having only GTS on the rear: it has occurred to me and I like the ones I've seen that have done it, but there's something about having 'Carrera' on the rear that I really like so I'm leaving the rear alone. I did consider replacing the rear emblems with the 'Carrera GTS' script but in smaller font than the door decals, and placing that decal on the lower right portion of the engine cover. But when I really thought about it, I decided I prefer the factory look.

I changed the all-black "Carrera GTS" script by replacing it with a simple
"GTS" on the engine cover. I think it looks good on the white car and makes it just a little distinctive. I've seen a black GTS in which the rear script was an all-red GTS - I thought that looked really nice as well.

I like the stone guards but not as a permanent fixture. I'd put em on for 6 or 7 months for a change...then take them off for 6 or 7 months.
