It is softer than the hard type so the suction cups do help, but are not absolutely necessary. You could use the visors to help keep it in place, I would guess.

Thanks for the quick feedback...the really big draw with this one is the two sided feature for winter and summer....have you found this of any use?

I've never used the "dark side", sorry. Although the Explorer sits outsides all the time, winter or summer, I have a remote start on it so it's always toasty or cool when I need it. I use it more to protect the interior in really hot weather, as well as keeping the interior dark from preying eyes...

Thanks for the feedback...I'm too undecided as I see the perks of both the rolling sun shade like the techshade as well as the covercraft ones and others...

I have the oem that suncoast sells. Easy to setup and it actually fits exactly in the trunk flush to the rear so it cannot be damaged like bent or break...

+1 on the cheap but effective twisty fold sunshades that store right behind the seat.

I use the twist and fold type. Purchased it from Autozone for $15 ish. It had a reflective coating which faces out and fits well. Folds and twists great and stores between the center console and passenger seat.
