Almost Bought a 09 911 "S" - Carfax Issue.. Questions!
Hi All.
I negotiated an 09 Silver/Black/911 "S", with 6,000 miles, Nav, Sport Chrono, the works, for $68,000. That's pretty far UNDER KBB. When I went to look at the car, it was literally mint.. However the Carfax says:
"Damage Report - Damage reported after accident or other incident"
I took it to local Porsche dealer and had the used car manager look at it. He said it looked pretty good to him, no frame damage, paint work was done on rear left side fender over wheel well. That could be for anything really he said. He said if price was good enough it's not a bad deal.
My concern is clear, there is a "Damage Report" on the Car Fax.. I'm getting the car for about 12K under KBB Retail price. So maybe that's factored in.
My battle is that I'm paying 70k for a car with a carfax issue, and the next buyer will have the same concern. I'll probably sell it to a dealer, who may not be so attached to a carfax, but I don't know..
Bottom line is I'm confused. What would you do? I can't really afford anything over $70k, and this looks like it's one of the only low mile "S" car's in that price range in the country.

You either worry about things you can't control, or you don't. It's 2012 and the reality is that Carfax exists even if it's usually a pain in the butt. Have the dealer give you a written inspection report so you have it for your file and enjoy your car. Otherwise, post where it is so some other forum member can take advantage of what may be a great deal.
Forget KBB,,, I only paid a few thousand more for my 09S, with 5K miles, mint.. The $68 is a realistic price on any 09S. KBB is way over what I see them selling for. I know the dealers are asking KBB prices but they had to drop $7,000 to get me to bite. If you really like the car consider it may just have been a fender someone backed into. If you look enough, you ll know when you see the right car. Good luck!
Hey S Fla,,, I got my car from Ft Meyers Porsche (1300 miles from Home).

kbb is not realistic. I got my 09 with 11k for less than your price similar options. mine is a cab instead of s' so kind of a wash but clean carfax one owner. they were asking 9k more than I ended paying and kbb was 10k higher than what I paid.
