Great Driving Roads in WV, NC, and SC??

Hello,

I'm taking a road trip this summer from Ohio to southern South Carolina and was hoping for some suggestions for north to south roads or other suggested routes in West Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

Thanks in advance!

In VA and NC anywhere on the Blue Ridge Parkway is scenic and a great drive.

Tail of the Dragon 318 curves in 11 miles in NC/TN mountains was at one time very cool to drive as well, but be careful lots of cops in the summer months and the TOD has turned into one big ticket trap and they will site you for anything.

If you are on eastern side of NC the OuterBanks are remote but great!

what are your destinations in each state? That would help determine what would be best stops and roads.

If you drive through VA, you could take the Blue Ridge Parkway down from VA to NC. The parkway is gorgeous but it will take you forever as the speed limit on those roads are about 45mph (if I'm not mistaken). Not sure about South Carolina so much -- I'll be interested to hear from folks who have taken scenic routes in SC.

Tail of the Dragon. Most fun I've ever had in my car. Get on it right as the sun comes up to avoid traffic.

yeah if your willing to go out of the way for a day or two you could pick up the Blue Ridge Parkway in VA and possibly head out the TOD in the NC mountains

This is by far one of the best routes I've driven on after the tail of the dragon. Worth going out of your way.
