PCM 2.1 upgrade

Hello everyone,

I have a early 05 PCM 2.1 that has the cd/cdc buttons. I would like to upgrade to the same version that has the phone buttons instead. My question is can I swap the radios then have the dealership activate it? I want to switch so I can add Bluetooth ability. Thanks in advance. Oh and I have a 05 C2S

Early PCM's w/ no phone capability can be replaced w/ one that has phone. New or dealer supplied ones are expensive and ebay or used buys can be a 'roll of dice' in terms of operability/reliability. Most likely you'll need the PIWIS to integrate the new PCM into the loop which means a trip to the 'stealer' (ops I meant dealer) or Indie.

I also have an early PCM in my 2005 997S. I use a BlueAnt device for my bluetooth 'hands-free' phone (iPhone 4S). A lot less expensive and simpler then changing out your PCM.

In case anyone else is looking into this option. Check out the Motorola Roadster 2. The main difference is it has a FM modulator. Which means you can hear your callers over your in car speaker system as well as stream audio say sirius satellite via iphone as well. cost about 20$ more on amazon than the Blueant S4 but i think it's worth it. Just a FYI for anyone else looking.
