Thinking about buying...thoughts?

I've been looking for a nice 993 C4S around $40k when I found this 997 C4S. It's high miles, but I wanted to know what people think about this purchase. Thanks!

I don't like matte black and wouldn't buy a car with 80,000 on it! I buy new all the time and that's just me.

I can only imagine what's waiting for you on the other side of 80K!

i think the color is unique depending on your taste but agree with the previous poster. I think you can buy a lower mileage car for the money.

Not my cup of tea with the all matte paint. If it was maintained well the miles shouldn't be that big an issue. With those miles I would expect to see a water pump replacement, a new clutch, RMS replacement, etc. And the price seems a little high. Plus it is a Tip.

The very high mileage wouldn't bother me if it was an '03 or so. The paint however is something I would never buy/drive.

That said, it doesn't matter what I like or think. Buy what you like, within your budget. The year, color and mileage only matter to you.

interesting car, although too much baggage (i.e. mileage, tip) but I like the matte paint. Keep looking, there are a lot of nice cars around

I think the real issue is....do you want a 993 or a 997? For approximately the same $, the used 997 is head and shoulders a better car. Not just better - it's in a different league actually. That said, if you're after the purist experience you might need to go with a 993. But be ready for aggravating repair expenses, unless you're a do-it-yourselfer. I just got rid of a low mileage 993 C2 last winter. It was a fun toy, but once the novelty wore off, that's really all it was. As a dd the 997 is much more comfortable, while the added power and added stability make it a much better performer too. No secret what I prefer- still have my 997.

I got an 07 Carrera with some upgrades and came with 34k miles and actually still has some factory warranty on it because it didnt sell for the first time off the lot until a year or two after it hit the dealership....bought it for $45k. This looks cool, but everyone is def not a fan of the matte paint. Not crazy about the high miles, but don't let the look seduce you and make you numb to anything else

Buy it. You will love yourself later every time you put your key into ignition and turn the beast on.

Thanks for all the feedback. I was patient and found a few alternatives. I ended up buying an 06 997 C4 with 40k miles on it. Love this car. Just need some black wheels for it!

Congrats man.....you will find yourself saying "I love this car" several months from now too. Got mine this past April and am still saying "Damn I love this car..." to myself when I drive it and especially when I really "push it"
