Daily driver advice

Hey guys,

What do you think about this car as a daily driver? Thanks for your advice!

The car looks very nice. CPO with $0 deductible looks like total peace of mind, which has some value for a daily driver. How much value, only you can determine for yourself. If you can live with the price, I would get a PPI and a service history. Have any of the semi-common issues been addressed (IMS, RMS, etc.).

For myself, I think the price is a bit high, bt then I am in Southern California, where used 911s are plentiful. Have you done any research on comparable vehicles (spec, year, mileage) in your region? I would be looking for $45k - $47k for this Man. Yr. / mileage / CPO combo.

Which goes back to my opening paragraph: what price peace of mind?

Thanks for the advice PVA. The price does seem a bit high, even for a one-owner well maintained car. Someone on the Rennlist forum suggested that the car could not be CPO because it is too old. I guess I need to check on that!

Yea, I'd definately check on the CPO. 6 years and 100k miles seems a little too good to be true.

I cannot believe this warranty claim for a 2005 997S. It's simply too good to be true unless there is a third party warranty service attached to this car. Even if the car was originally a CPO car, it would have been out of warranty 6 years after it's first in service date. Assume best case the car was sold sometime in 2006, that means the warranty would expire sometime in 2012.

BTW, price seems high for an '05. Otherwise, it 'looks' like a nice car. Wonder why the PCM ***** look so worn for a car with only 30K miles. My car has 23K and ***** look brand new. Weird.

Looks like consensus is: too much money and some questionable claims on the dealer description. Liked the Atlas Gray color, but probably need to pass on this one barring some good explanations and a deep discount.

@ daberlin...good catch on the **** wear. Interesting that the PCM and the temp adjust both show the wear. On the temp adjust it is the pasenger that is most beat up...

Hmm...pure speculation here, but a girlfriend with too much bling and a nasty tude could do that type of damage...

i wouldn't want that type of wear on my ****.

Just for comparison sake we have an almost identical car here at my dealer. Also 05 S but 6 speed with CPO so not uncommon to find 05's CPO. Mine is at $53K which definately seemed too high and the miles are right around 31K. There is 0 wear on the ***** on the car locally. I am near Philly

But how is it possible to have a '05 CPO still left in place if the first in-use date (which is always the start for the CPO, not when it's re-sold) was in '05? That would mean the CPO expired in '11. An '05 car might be an original CPO car, but that the warranty has long expired. I don't believe the rules changed.

As for things like wear on *****, worn seats, and generally tired interior, these are just the OCD things I look at in a pre-owned car. If the car was visually uncared for, you need to then look longer AND harder at the things you cannot see, which is why a PPO in this car (even though I know you aren't considering it..) would be a no brainer.

Nothing wrong with a car that was driven HARD. These cars are made for it. BUT for $50K? Nah. Pass.

When I think of an '05' I always factor in an IMS update. With that in mind the price is too high for me. Maybe not for someone else.

That car if CPO'ed will be covered for 2 years from the date it is sold as a CPO and up to 50K additional miles.

From the Porsche CPO web page:

For vehicles no longer under the new vehicle limited warranty at the time of used retail delivery, Porsche Approved Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty coverage extends until the earlier of:
• 2 years from the date of used retail delivery
OR
• 50,000 miles from the mileage at used retail delivery, but not to exceed a cumulative 100,000 total miles on the vehicle

You are right! I stand very much corrected, and am sorry for the oversight.
