WTB: 997 Cabrio
WTB: 997 Cabrio
Hello everyone,
I'm looking to join to the P club and finally party with you guys. I've had plenty of go fast cars, but I've always lusted after a 911. Love the handling as well as the sexy lines! I think life is too short and uncertain, so I'd finally like to make my dream come true. Here's what I'm looking for:
Any 997 (C, S, or 4S)
2006 to 2009
Cabrio
6 speed manual
Exterior: Grey, Blue, Black, or Green
Interior: Tan
Obviously, very well maintained, great condition, and fairly low miles. Price depends on year, mileage, condition, options, etc. I don't really a specific price in mind, but looking for a really nice car and a good deal.
I've been looking at the usual sites: eBay, cars.com, autotrader.com, and carsforsale.com. Should I be monitoring anything else?
If you guys have anything, know of anything, or see anything resembling what I've listed, I would REALLY appreciate it if you'd drop me a line.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks Steve. What's the best way to do a Craigslist national search?
check the Porsche dealer website for a national listing of their used cars. If the money is right go for a 09 and up CPO warrentied car.

2009 is the first year for 997.2 which has the engine with DFI and updated exterior.
if money is not an issue, look for a GTS edition which has the widebody + other goodies
BOL
Autotempest.com searches several websites for you and displays the results. It checks Craigslist as well.
Good luck with your search.

Thanks guys. Money is most definitely an issue, and initially I was hoping to keep it below $45K. As many of you have probably experienced, after looking at a number of cars, my limit has crept up, simply because I'm not sure I can find what I'm looking for, in mint condition, for that kind of money.
In an ideal world I'd get a 2009, with all the upgraded goodies. The nice ones I'm seeing are between $60K and $70K though. Here's one on eBay, non-S, no Nav, no CPO but with some remaining original warranty, 28K mi, with an asking price of $60.

BTW, I've seen brand new leftover 2011 cabs (with light options) being offered by the local P dealer for $80K. If I had the cash, which unfortunately I don't, that would've been the thing to do.

$45k? For a Cab? Not going to happen. If you can find a brand new 2011 cab with no miles for $80k you should buy it. I would personally like to see that ad.
I solid 2009 CPO cab with less then 10k miles is going to run you low to mid 70's.

If I had the $80K, I would definitely consider it. BTW, this wasn't an ad. I saw the actual car yesterday. 2011 Black/Tan, 6 speed, light optioned car (no Nav), with a few hundred miles, never titled, for $80K. Cherry Hill Porsche in New Jersey. It's there, just in case anyone is looking for one.

Certainly, there are a number of decent looking cabs going for $45K or under. Anything wrong with these?? They don't happen to be my favorite color combo, but they look nice, no??

nope. Great cars. 2009 saw major improvements. So much so that the 991 mechanically is a 09+ 997. Thats why the 09+ 997s are so friggen expensive...
Pre 09 997s are less expensive and offer great values...if I were buying one for myself (vs the wife) I would get a pre-09 with a stick in a heart beat.
That said, the PDK WITH the sport and sport + (from Suncoast) is a spectacular car.
