are oem wheels powder coated or simply painted and clear coated? i am assuming that our oem wheels are simply painted to minimize costs.

Sort of O/T: Has anyone ever had a set of wheels powdercoated? I understand that with cast aluminum wheels (vice forged) that the temperature (+350 degrees) used in the curing process could damage the integrity of the wheels.

 

I've had my turbo wheels powder coated. No problems.

 

There is a lot of info on this subject on the forum. I think the general consensus is powder coating is fine at a very reputable place but the heat factor is a concern and many people just paint. I am personally in favor of paint based on forum info and discussions with local high-end wheel shop here in Atlanta.
