Would like a tune, but not sure which one

I want to get a tune for my 07 C4S, but not sure which one. I'm sure what I want from the tune, but I don't know what's available out there for my car. I'm seeking a tune which will pull throughout rpm range, and not just mid or high end of rpms. Has anyone heard of DIMsport tune? How good is ETG? Suggestions?

Since you have a Gen 1, why don't you just get a VF supercharger and call it a day?

I was thinking about it. Dilemma is that I'll be buying a newer 911 later down the road, and therefor don't want to spend that kind of money for SC

You're really not going to get much power from a tune on the NA motors, especially without doing an exhaust too. And even then you're not going to get much improvement. Porsche really wrings out a lot of the potential from their NA engines and doesn't leave much on the table! IMHO the tune and/or exhaust is not worth the money for the meager increase in power you'll get. I'd save the money and put it towards your next 911 and get a better model.

Tune really doesn't help much with HP increase. It'll improve drivability and marginal power increase. Coupled with high flow cats you can gain 20-30 HP. So, the SC is probably has a better cost to HP gain ratio

I understand and agree with what you are saying, but I will never recover that cost when I trade in for the next model in about 2 to 3 years. To lose $1500 is not so bad compare to 10K, so for now I just want to gain a little bit more power over what it has now.

Put a nice sounding high flow exhaust system on it. It will give you crisper throttle response, a tiny bump in HP, but it will make it sound like you have a lot more HP and that you're going a lot faster . You would be amazed at how much more fun it makes the car to drive. Not a ton of money and it won't detract from your trade-in value in a year or two. Save your oem exhaust system so you can put it back on when you trade and then sell the after market system here and get some of your money back.

+1

Fister exhaust+AWE cats changes the car dramatically.

Have you considered swapping in a LWFW? That will make your car much more responsive than a tune, short of going FI, IMO.

The TPC turbo is even better - for the same money you get more power - VF's S/C power yield for the money doesn't make all that much sense when compared to TPC. All bolt on/bolt off.

It takes a lot of money for trying to get more out of the NA engine, and the only way I know of doing that is by punching it out to a 4.0 and that's big MONEY.

software tune will not help u in this case. They can re-map so u will have more lower end..but u will lose some power elsewhere. Our engine has only so much power available.. and Porsche engineers prob did their best to squeeze out max performance without giving up quality/dependability (& marketing also has something to do with it I am sure). Bottom line is that without some hardware (exhaust, intake, turbo, SC, etc) or an engine over-haul, a software tune is a waste of money, IMO.

also keep in mind, unless u go with forced induction, u will prob not be happy with the $$ u spend vs power u get.

my 2cents

BTW i find the power more than ample in our cars, especially if u keep it 4k rpm or above.

Thank you all for your input. About a week ago or so I installed TB and Plenum by IDP (thank to Greg for a great deal), I notice a slight increase in performance. Today, I installed Fabspeed Supercar exhaust (thanks to Alex) and the car became a different animal. Combination of these products made this car alive, so now I'm wondering, if I were to add tune to this combo, how much will it be quicker?

I did the EVOMSit tune and I'm happy with it. It definately feels like it pulls more throughout the power band. Never dyno'd it so it may just be my butt dyno but my a$$ is pretty well calibrated
