Wagner Tuning just released a new kit for the 997 and claim to have better performance than the OEM 997.2 Turbo/GT2RS. The GT2RS was already a great improvement over the stock 997.1 and beat many aftermarkets on performance/price ratio for basic upgrades till ~650hp. The WT is at the same price level of a OE GT2RS which puts now a dilemma for those that are on the market looking for it.
I just purchased a set through SamboTT@bydesign. They have 2.5 inlet and outlets, which are bigger than the gt3rs! And, they come with their own hoses for about 1500 bucks! I will install soon, keep you updated!

gt2 ic are the same as normal turbo .1 so not big suprise that the wagner are better.
I check better their website and they have two kits:
● 997.1 Turbo from 2006-2008
● 997.2 Turbo 3.8l (which we all know that has the same ic's that is in the GT2RS)
Now the funny stuff is that both kits has the same core dimensions... So i think that WT is selling the same stuff.
The OEM 997.2 ic's is a good upgrade over the stock 997.1 and is cheap but a good upgrade over the stock 997.2 is twice the price of it.
4 years ago i bought them a 335i ic which lowered and stabilized alot my ait's. Maybe it was due to bmw poor design and not WT top quality??? But WT must have some credits because i don't think that BMW put crap stuff into their cars, specially when they are known for making high performance engines.
I also looked awhile ago into the Audi 2.5 tfsi world and remember reading that forge is better than WT for the TTrs. I found odd because WT has several kits for it which is suppose to have r&d to support the newer kits and an improvement over the olders.

Painted cores and worm gear clamps? I'm pretty sure you'll get "exactly" what you pay for.....
There's a big write up with dyno and data logged 60-130 times posted on this forum. I've read em, and they show great improvement over the gt2rs. Basically the same cooler with bigger inlet and outlets for better flow and they didn't heat soak as bad as the gt2rs recovering faster. You should discuss this with your tuner/ parts supplier. This is my last post, hope it helps! This is what I call," one of those endless debates". Good luck!

Honestly the N54 oem IC is utter crap, its a toy compared to even the cheapest ebay IC's.
This still seems like a decent upgrade for 997.1 cars, even if cores are similar to the (great) 997.2 IC's. Since they have alu end tanks and larger outlets/piping AND for similar $ as the oem 997.2/gt2rs/... IC's.
