997.1 "S" cars tips (3.8L cars) will fit on any 997.2. Tips from 997.1 base Carrera car which are 3.6L have a smaller ID and you can't open them up enough to fit over the diameter of the larger 997.2 exhaust tubing. Therefore you can't fit a .1 base Carrera (3.6L) tip to a 997.2 car. When taking tips from .1 to .2 the .1 tips have to have come off a 3.8L car. Not a 3.6.

Unlike the .1 cars the 997.2 exhaust tubing diameter is uniform from a base Carrera to an "S". Therefore you can take a 997.1 "S" tip and go straight onto a 997.2 base Carrera.

The FVD adapter is necessary when you want the "S" tip look on a base 997.1 Carrera (3.6) because only on the .1 are you stepping down in stock exhaust piping diameter when going from a 3.8 to a 3.6.

AMGE,
Which ebay tips. When I put in my YMM it pulls up one universal set which look funny and then OEM and there are no double tips just the single like what I already have. Anyone have a link, or better yet a brand and part number.
Thanks

So ended up just going with the flat black paint that I did myself on the tips. Just got them on - think the look goes well on the car. Could not stand the non-s tips on there! Pretty basic mod that makes a world of difference! Sorry - not the best picture but the idea is there.

High temp flat black 'bbq paint' its called. Not planning on tracking the car and based on other threads Ive seen should not be having issues with paint over time, but we will see!

I picked these up via ebay. Except I was looking at how the stock ones are attached and will these fit? All I need is an FVD adapter correct with the stock mounting bolt?

I went with the black chrome tips from AWE. They look great and there was no concerns with fitment.
