Noobie question - turbo possibility?

Ive been searching now for a couple days both here and google but havent come up with anything, nor have I come across anyone doing this, but has anyone done a custom turbo setup on a standard 997 carrera?

Im a DIY kind of guy so doing one wouldnt be a problem, the problem I see is how to vent intercoolers on a non turbo model car with no air scoops?

has anyone ever installed air scoops on a non turbo model 997?

I seen a post where a 996 turbo cut the panel to fin 997 air scoop .. but thats not the same thing.

Thanks.

There was a company making turbos that were placed on the sides (where the side mufflers are located)... do a search as it was posted here.

Unless you really want to DIY you would probably be better off selling your C2 and going for TT.

TPC makes a good turbo kit for the 997.1. The 997.2 model is to be released to the public soon.

Hey guys thanks for the replies, VF Engineering I will keep your PM in my inbox for future reference when I decide to get serious, for now I'm just brainstorming.

Owning my own business sometimes isn't the greatest reward, lucky enough I got into a Porches let alone have the money for a TT, however I have a machine shop so i'm kind of limitless and love to have new projects.

My first car many yrs ago was a 418whp Nissan 240sx coupe, were I fabricated many things such as top mount equal length turbo manifold, an aluminium intake manifold, intercooler piping, numerous exhausts, engine rebuilds.. etc.. I even cut my roof off that was rotting around my sunroof and welded on a new roof LOL.. extreme

if thats not enough, I recently built a custom Chopper out of an old 81 Honda cb900.. fabbed everything.

So like I said I love projects and am a DIY kind of guy.. I rather piece it together, get creative, fabricate my own parts (whatever I can) and call it my own than buying and bolting on.

For the most part I will be lurking and learning about the car, and hopefully in the not too distance future I would like to do a custom turbo project... just have to figure out that intercooler problem

Doba, from what I read about your previous project, you have some great fabrication skills and I am sure with some time invested on your project you can devise something clever for air ducts. Have you considered doing an air to water intercooler system? This will alleviate the need of additional air ducts.

P.S. when you are ready to start investing on your project, I can gladly assist you with a custom set of Turbonetics turbos and turbo accessories for project.

Air to water, no I have not thought about going that way.. seems like some fun researching.

P.S.. seeing how you're in Ontario also... I might have to take you up on those turbo parts and accessories.

Something else I've been wondering, VF you guys have made a few kits it seems, I'm just getting familiarized with the Porshce engine and all, I've noticed you guys run 6psi on your kits and get a descent 100 rwhp out of that.. what would be considered "safe" in terms of PSI on a stock internal 3.6L engine?
