Price penalty for MULTIPLE owner C2S?
Looking at a 2006 C2S, Aero, sport chrono, 25k miles. Looking at the carfax it shows 7 owners...but 2 of them were less than 2 months. Nothing in the recorded service looks odd or out of place. It is at a dealer, no CPO available as the factory Aero kit was an add-on. Asking $48k. From what I'm seeing, if this were a one or two owner car it would be priced quite well, especially around KC where there just aren't nearly as many as say Dallas or Chicago.
I've driven the car and it runs fantastic, looks very clean, etc. The latest owner was local and had the car about 3 years, serviced at this dealer. I'm not super bothered by the amount of owners...but maybe I should be? Certainly it's going to be an issue when I resell it.

I think you've answered your own question... If it bothers you, it may bother the next buyer.
I personally don't care. And it seems like you don't either. I'd purchase the car for yourself, not for the next person. If resale is always on your mind, then I'd skip it, because it will linger there for your entire ownership - not fun.
So it comes down to priorities - do you want to enjoy the car? Or worry about resale when you're done with it?

I had my 2006 C2S for just 2 months before trading it on a 2009 C2S because of a deal I couldn't refuse. I'd only be concerned about the number of owners for resale. But knowing that you could take a little hit at the end, getting the right deal up front can help wash out the loss. I'm sure your future resale will be higher if you were buying a 1-owner car instead, but you'd also be paying a higher price for that car today.

Are there service records that the dealer would have that would not be shown on the carfax history? Just wondering what kind of questions or information I should ask for...computer check, revs? Can I trust a dealers own PPI? Seems a little one-sided, but this is a very reputable dealer.
The lack of selection is just killing me!! The silver is growing on me and it looks good with the Aero kit and has all the preferred options. Just really love white...but that's such a tall order.

Not me and not with a ten foot pole. A six year old car with 7 owners and too many chances for the car to be treated like it was a rental. Why should any of the owners have bothered to properly maintain ( or do any maintainance at all ) a car they had no intention of keeping. Now, if you have no intention on keeping it you'd better get a great price on a car that will have had 8 owners next time it's sold.

Would you marry a young woman with 7 previous marriages and several of them ending after just a short while? Never buy a car on emotion unless you can afford a potential bad marriage and eventual divorce. Treat it as it really is - a transaction, and think with your big head and not your small one.

Ask is a little high. It's nearing the bottom of its depreciation curve so unless it suffers a catastrophic mechanical issue, you're "loss" wont be huge (relatively speaking) when you want to sell. The aerokit should not have disqualified it from being a CPO. Multiple ownership is an indication that the car might - again might - have been abused but that's merely speculation. A one owner car could have suffered much worse abuse. PPI and DME overrev scan are a must for any car and in this instance will go a long way to either confirming or dispelling abuse hype. Exclusionary warranty would be the way to go if you're really worried. Negotiate that point w/the dealer (i.e. you cant pay more that X because you need Y to purchase a warranty to cover whatever abuse 7 owners may have done to this non-CPO car). GL.

It's not just one previous owner that left it after a few months, maybe there IS something you won't find out until you owned it for a week? Why chance it? Move on - there is nothing here. There are plenty of OTHER 997s with meticulous owners that treated it well. Good luck!

Porsche of Springfield, MO are very good people to deal with. Perhaps they can source a 997 that you can feel comfortable living with and enjoy with peace of mind. Just another unsolicited suggestion for you. Good luck whatever you decide.
Why not expand your search. I've purchased cars from all around the country with no issues. Fly in check it out and either drive it home or ship it home. It may cost you $1,000 but whats that in the big picture. Find the car that is perfect for you!

I've had various cars shipped without incident. A plane ticket + rental car can be had for ~$300 to find that right car if you broaden your search a bit. For ~$1000 you can fly to see the car, ship it back and save some headache down the road. Just my 2 cents. This may be a good car, but the bottom line is you gotta go with known facts (7 owners, you drove it - felt solid) - the rest, positive or negative from the rest of the peanut gallery is just conjecture.
