New to Porsche

Hey guys, I just recently became a P-car owner this past Saturday. I come from a few Saleen's and a GT500 so this is very different for me. I originally visited Park Place Porsche to test drive an '09 M3 and ended up signing papers on a low mile CPO '06 911 Carrera in Guards Red. I was hoping to have it today but they are still needing to do a detail and complete the rest of the certifcation process. As for modding, I am pretty lowkey and prefer OEM appearances so nothing planned as of now aside from updated DRL's and rear Dectanes.

If anyone has any input for a new owner, feel free to share . (btw, I'm TSaleen for anyone on DFWautoclub.com)

Thanks,
Jared

Clear side markers instead of the crusty yellows. Gundo hack for the mufflers do a search for that. Good luck with the car

Nice, welcome to the club. I bought my Cayman from PP a few years back & traded it in 2 months ago for my 997. Be sure to join the local Maverick region of PCA. Hope to see you at some events!

This will be different coming out of those other cars. Many of us have the same experience and I think you will grow to appreciate the 911 for things other than brute power. Is it your daily driver too? I am content using mine when I m in the mood,, others use them every day. Lots of good info about your car on this site. Post pics when you get it. Good luck.

Yes, this will be my daily driver but I am also a bicyclist and will probably only average around 4-6K miles a year on the 911. It currently has 20K miles.

All I can say is give it some time on the mods and just enjoy the satisfaction of owning a P-Car!

Congratulations! Definitely join your local PCA club and then do some DE's (Driver's Ed) and Auto crosses. They are a blast and you will learn a lot about your new toy! For mods, a Gundo Hack is a great way to get more sound out of your 911 for very little money. It will sound deeper, but not too loud.

For more fun, replace the entire exhaust system with new headers, 200 cell cats and mufflers and a IPB Plenum. It will make a great difference on the sound and the feel of the car. I am really pleased I made these mods, my car feels so much more lively and responsive now, i was really surprised how much of a difference it made, it was like night and day!

For cell phone and iPod capability a Dension works OK. I have one, but I get interference when talking on the phone. Use the search function go to "Advanced" and search titles for Blue Tooth to see your options.

I personally think the yellow side turn indicators look better than clear on red.

Nice intro, Jarred! As others have said, welcome to the board and to world of P-cars!!

Yep, you'll love this car for a multitude of reasons...and you'll especially realize it if you ever have to get in and drive another brand of car.

Your planned mods and the above-mentioned hack will make your car even more enjoyable; you'll go into your garage just to stare at it and you'll love hearing the motor/exhaust, especially at higher RPMs.

Looking forward to doing some DEs at MSR and possibly COTA with you in the future, along with some local road rallys!!!

Can't wait to see it!
Cliff
