Depart from Targa 4S?

Depart from Targa 4S?
Sigh, it's finally come. I have an opportunity to get into a 991 S Cab but that means I will need to sell my '08 Targa 4S w/only 8k miles. My wife and I LOVE our Targa especially with AWD - best of both worlds. It's in flawless condition. But we also love the new 991. The dealer is giving us a remarkable discount as the Cabs are not moving as fast.

I agree. I had a T4S and sold it when I bought my current C2S cab when living in So Cal. Now that I'm in the Pacific Northwest, I wish I had my Targa back (although I still love my cab).

It has the features we want like PDK, SC, full leather, Sports Exhaust, Nav, etc
It's white exterior and beige interior like our Targa

I'd say go for it. Time to modernize.

that's weird about the same colors.......I'd need a new color too hehe.....
I find reasons to go out in mine all the time,
"oh, you need some light bulbs??? be RIGHT back!"
an hour later....
'yeah, uh, I had to go to three different stores....but I found some"
good luck with the trade

The 991 sounds like a good deal and since it has all of the options you were wanting, I say go for it! The Targa should sell fast considering the miles, options and condition. GLWS

I'm hoping to get top dollar for it, especially with the color combo and options on it.

Unfortunately, the rarity of the Targa 4S does not translate into additional private sale / trade-in value. In fact, due to the low demand of the Targa models in general, the price is less than a comparable cab.

What do you think I should ask for mine? I've seen a couple of '07 with around 25K miles each, going for $60-65K

The pricing is tricky on the Targas. It can work both ways. There are fewer buyers of Targas, but if someone wants one, there are few available too. All you can do is try and see what happens. If you try and can't get offers close to your bottom line, then you may want to keep it. I bought my used 07 in 08 at a huge discount from the original price, but then sold it in late 09 at another huge discount - mainly due to the very soft market in late 09. Luckily, all things being relative, I was able to purchase my cab at a great price in the same down market. If I had sold my Targa now I would likely have gotten the same price for it as I did when I sold near the bottom of the market ($65k). Suggest you canvas all 997 Targas listed on Autotrader (nationwide) to see where asking prices are right now. Very nice car. Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback. There isn't a low mileage (8K miles) that I can find that is comparable. Most I've found on autotrader and cars.com have 15-30k miles and range from $57-68K
I think my car is way better condition, lower miles, and optioned than these ones...
