Considering purchasing a used 997S...

...just curious what I should expect to pay?

The car is a Black/Black with PCCB and 5900 mls. They're advertising it as a "Launch Edition" but I'm not sure what that means...

The dealer is asking 96K but I think I can get it for 92K. Is that a good deal?

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

What's the original sticker price? You should get at least $10k off of that.

PCCB adds little resale value. What other options are on it? Get the option code and you can look up. Also, look under engine for RMS and test tranny for smoothness. Will it be certified w a 6 yr warranty? Ask for warranty service history from service department. See if any issues repeat.

Launch are first batch of cars produced. They are more likely to have more kinks that later production cars do not have. Do a search on Launch to see what are the typical issues.

thanks for the quick response.

The original sticker on the car was $99,300. A quick list of the notable options are:

Black Full Leather - 3315
Adaptive Sport Seats - 2695
PCCP - 8150
Sport Chrono - 920
Nav - 2070
Bose sound - 1390

...so is 92K 3K too much for this car? BTW, not buying from a Porsche Dealer, the car is at a local Lambo dealer.

WAY, WAY Too much. Take about $10K off that. PCCB & Full Leather add very little to re-sale value.

Really? A 997S for 82K? I haven't seen many for sale, let alone any under 85K w/PCCB. Have I just been missing the good deals?

I'll have to see what they can do.

Thanks again.

You can still get a brand new Launch edition from OHIO with 10K off sticker. I repeat... Brand New!
Call the dealerships in Ohio. The Porsche website has a dealer locator that includes their respective inventory. Good luck and keep me updated.

I checked out the car in OH I think you we're referring to...no PCCB so unfortunately it won't work for me, but how do you know they'll take 10K off?

Has anyone here recently purchased a new 997S and recieved that steep of a discount? I didn't think the dealers had that much play in the car...that would make a 99K car sell at 89K??? sounds too good to be true. thanks again for all the input.

it's not so much as discount off new, it's that it is used. Once you drive it off the lot you just took a hit. In your case this guy is discounting it only $3,300 off of MSRP for a car that already has over 5,000 miles on it. That is nonsense. several of those options are almost negligible when it comes to resale value. Look for mid 80's.

A couple months ago, the dealers in OH had their launch editions on their hands. I remember they were discounting 10k. I'll check myself and get back to you. If I find it would you take it?

Check that. Those cars are all gone. I just checked the entire State of Ohio. Regardless, the lambo dealers asking way too much. You'll probably have to replace the PCCB's soon anyway. The Porsche website has a used car search agent. Check it out and the best of luck to you.

If you found a brand new Blk/Blk 997S with the options listed above (PCCB and Sport Chronos are most important) for 89K I would take it, but I'm looking to buy in the next week or so. (Chicago's summers don't last long enough to wait much longer)

For the record, it would be $7,300 off MSRP, but your point is definitely taken. I've got some thinking to do...

I am contemplating selling my 05 Midnight Blue/Stone Grey 997S.
The car is perfect and has 2300 miles.
It has the following options:

Adaptive sport seats.
Bose
Short shifter
Sport Chrono
Heated seats
Painted console.

The MSRP was around 89k

I live in Indiana.
Let me know if you have any interest.

the dealer probably bought that car for somewhere in the high 70's on trade - unless it's on consignment.....pay no more than somewhere in the low 80's

the launch ed. are hot though for sure, all the goodies
