Ordering Fister D mod, what about ceramic coating?

Hi

Ordering my first mod for my '06 997. I'm getting the Fister D exhaust. Just wondering what the scoop is on the ceramic coating. Is this just a finish bit or is there some actual benefit to my car by doing so?

Also will likely be getting a set of eibach springs and the Dension Gateway 500s .

Thanks, Derek

Makes the system hold up better, speeds up gas velocity, and if the whole system is coated would reduce radiated heat in the engine bay quite a lot.

where are you located? FD is right next to my office so when you make your appointment i can drop by with my PCar. I had my tips coated from Darin.

You will be happy with his work.

I'm in so cal, so won't be dropping off my car.

Steve, when you say it makes the system hold up better are you referring to rust, or longevity? How does the coating effect gas velocity? Is that supposed to have somewhat of a relationship to better performance?

Longevity.

People have wrapped exhausts for decades. Same concept.

What color do they come nowadays? Decades ago, I bought some and, man, my exhaust looked liked Frankenstein --- bandages wrapped.

Yup! Wraps keep the heat contained.

Had Darren do mine along with the ceramic coating. I went with the ceramachrome color. You can't really see the mufflers so the color doesn't really matter.

I do notice less heat buildup in the engine bay now. Engine cool down times are shorter when parked in a closed door garage.

I just installed mine last weekend. I opted for ceramic, painted black. I LOVE them!! Best bang for the buck of any mod I've done yet. Be prepared for some curing time though... You can smell the ceramic and paint after heating the engine up, but that will go away.

You could have achieved the same result by poking a few holes in your mufflers with a screw driver ... for FREE
