Question 11mpg 100% city driving

I have a 2006 base 911 cab, 6 speed manual.

I drive 100% in the city but am wondering if it's normal to only get 11mpg?

I previously had a 2012 Boxster S Black Edition with pretty much the same number of HP (320) as well as a Z4M with even more HP (330) and both cars had a lot better mpg.

I know this is a sports car and I don't mind the low mpg, but I am just wondering if it's normal or should I be checking something out.

I almost never redline my car, the tach rarely goes above 5000RPMs. My tire pressure is normal.

It is very cold these days in Montreal but still, I am filling up every 270 kilometers...!

My car is going to the dealer tomorrow to replace a faulty trunk lid switch, I'm wondering if it's worth it to ask the tech to look for an issue which could explain the mpg or if it's perfectly normal for my car.

thanks!

Jacques

You should get much better than 11 mpg. How consistent is your mpg? Every tankful? I assume your summer mpg is better? How long do you warm the vehicle before driving?

mpg is always the same every single tankful...yes summer mpg is better

I don't let my car warm up a lot before driving, it sits 12 hours in a cold garage while I am at work and when I want to go home I just start it up and drive.

What should I ask the Porsche tech. to look for?

I'd double check the tire pressure. Also what tire pressure are you running?

Edit... also what rpm are you generally cruising at? I assume you're not leaving it a 4k all the time or something or driving in constant stop and go.

I once got stuck in the canyons. 12MPG = c4s

Daily MPG=17.5 (city and hwy). Going to Vegas=23MPG (priceless!

I am in the same place but average 12.4 over the last 9 fill ups. All city driving with lots of stop and go. I start the car and let it warm up until it idles down. Then shift around 3K until the oil is fully warmed up then I flog her like a red headed step child until I get to work so maybe another 2 full runs runs the gears where I touch 6K at least once.
If I take it easy and don't run her hard I may average 13 so I just drive it and accept the fact that she likes to drink premium gas.
My winter car is a 91 Grand Wagoneer that gets about 7MPG so I figured I am making some exxon mobil guys quite a bit of money.

I think it is normal. I'm getting 12 to 13 city driving only. I drive it hard every time. Shifting between 5 and 6 krpm. (After it warms up). I have a base c4 manual.

straight city i get 11-14. so i think you're on the low end of mpg, but i dont think its extra ordinarily low.

I did double check my tire pressure, all is good.

As for the RPMs, I usually cruise around 2000 to 2500RPMs.

Maybe it's all in my head but it almost seems as if my MPG suddenly dropped after we had a huge snow storm and I ended up getting stuck in a snow bank. I had to rev my car pretty hard to get out of it for a solid 30-40 minutes. The next day I went in for an oil and filter change.

It seems as if my MPG magically decreased since then.

Could it be a MAF or 02 sensor?
