Advice on new Lug Bolts

Switching my NB to WB wheels and from what I understand, I need longer lug bolts. Looking for recommendations on where to get longer ones, preferably in black... Should I just go OEM, or ? What did you guys do?

Unless you're running spacers, bolts are same size. If you're going OEM WB you can use same bolts. If you go aftermarket WB, make sure you know what kind of seat the new wheels have. OEM I believe is ball seat. Some aftermarket manufacturers employ cone seats.

OEM black available from one of your "neighbors"

http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...7TT_Wheelacces

Also, as already posted change from NB to WB wheels doesn't require longer bolts.

So going from a 67mm offset to a 50mm in the rear does not require a longer bolt?

No - there is no additional space between hub and the back plate of the wheel with a change in offset. Introduce a spacer then there is additional distance that requires a longer bolt. If you added a 17mm spacer to your 67mm wheel you would have an effective offset of 50mm but you would need a 17mm longer lug bolt.

I have factory gloss black wheels and the standard lug bolts looked horrible - changed to OEM black. The standard lug bolts just drew attention to the 5 spots on the wheel hub that were not black.

Chris, here at TiKORE we specialize in lengths over OEM, however we do not offer our Titanium lugs in black at this time. Check out our online store (www.tikore.com) and see why our product is referred to as "pure automotive jewelry."

Regards

One more bit... Is there a need for anything to be applied to the bolts before threading in?

Compare pictures of the two (Vivid and OEM) and you see why I suggest you stay with OEM. Vivid clearly says their bolts are conical seat while OEM is ball seat - here's an explanation.

Apply some anti-seize lubricant to the bolt threads. Preferably one that contains aluminum, like Permatex 81343.

Also, it is very easy to spray paint the bolt heads black. Drill twenty 1/2" holes in the top of a shoebox, insert the bolts, and spray 'em.

Correct! Offset change is designed in the wheel and does not use spacers so your lug bolts are the same. If you add spacers then you need to get longer bolts.

Also by the way front offset on NB and WB cars are the same. It's just the rear offset that is different on a WB car.

No... DO NOT apply any grease or anti-sieze to bolts. Just clean the threads off if you like....but DO NOT apply anti-sieze and change the friction of the bolt
