Suncoast SSK Sale
Seems to be pretty much the case with aftermarket ssk kits. Since the throw is shorter you need to apply more force, which seems to create higher wear on the 2nd gears synchro. Was widely discussed on 986forum. However not sure if this applies to the kit in the suncoast promotion.

Agree. It's all about the installation. The most important part being (obviously) to measure where the cables attach to the old shifter before removing the old shifter.
I have to disagree based on almost 50,000 miles on my -06 C4S with an aftermarket B&M SSK. No more force was needed compared to stock. Two finger tips was all the force required be it 1st to 2nd or otherwise. Smooth as silk till the day it was traded. First mod I would do if I got another manual. How these kits are installed makes a big difference. DIY installs seem to have more issues than factory kits or dealer installs.

I ordered mine tonight! :-)
But I would still love to hear from those who already have the SSK installed in their 997...
Also, I plan on having my local Porsche dealer install this.
I don't even want to try to attempt the install myself.

I may..thanks. There's a turn (5) at NJMP T, where I go from 4 to3 and have no power coming out. I should try to go from 4 to 2 but I don't think I can get there smoothly. This may help.
I put the B&M SSK into my 997.1 about three years ago. Definitely not a DIY job; I punted and took it to my indie, who sweated and sweared for 3 hours and I bet regretted the $100 cost he quoted me up front. IMHO, this is the ONLY mod I've done that has really been worthwhile in terms of either driving experience or off-track performance.
From I what read on PelicanParts, SSK by nature puts more pressure on the gears irregardless of who made them. You just can't beat physics.
On the other hand, I love them. I installed one on my SC knowing that I can rebuild the tranny anytime. I have yet to install one on the 997.

Yo! I agree, except that is correct when:1. You use a stinkin' Iphone and it self-corrects.
2. You look it up in WIKI.
3. When the language welcomes new words.
4. You hear it often enough.
One should consider the evolution of languages and creation of sites such as urbandictionary, wiki, etc. The section below is from one of the sites --- you may want to take a look at the last sentence (I did not create it). Almost customized for yah

Etymology: probably blend of irrespective and regardless
Date: circa 1912
nonstandard : REGARDLESS
usage Irregardless originated in dialectal American speech in the early 20th century. Its fairly widespread use in speech called it to the attention of usage commentators as early as 1927. The most frequently repeated remark about it is that "there is no such word." There is such a word, however. It is still used primarily in speech, although it can be found from time to time in edited prose. Its reputation has not risen over the years, and it is still a long way from general acceptance. Use regardless instead.
Irregarless of your opinion this is a word.
