ECU Flash, is it the same as Sport Mode?

I've been reading posts on the various flash options and thought I'd open a thread with a few questions relative to sport mode:

I have sport mode already, how significantly different will a flash be to my sport mode being on?

Will I continue to have as noticeable of a power increase when I turn on sport mode after I flash my ECU?

Am I just throwing $1,000 down the drain because I already have Sport Mode?

Thanks!

Don

No it's not stock, I have an IPD Plenum, iPE 200 cell cats, racing headers and iPE valvetronic sport muffler.

I think the tune with those options is worth it...increased HP, smoother engine response at high rpms.

I consider a tune different than sports mode software.

feedback

I flashed mine with the softtonic tune after adding the Fabspeed 200 cell cats and the difference is similar to the change between normal to sport mode. The tune would feel incrementally faster like a sport plus mode. Since then I've added the x-51 airbox, 84mm plenum, gt3 throttle body, fabspeed headers and twin BMC filters and the car feels so much different. The torque that is normally felt from 5500 rpms up (in sport mode) now starts around 2500 rpms and pulls hard all the way to redline. My car is significantly faster than a stock 4s.

FWIW, there is no power increase from turning on Sport mode. It simply re-maps the throttle, which can give the impression of more power. So flashing the ECU will likely provide power increase over sport mode, although I don't have any experience with how noticeable it is. Given all your other mods, the combo should provide a nice little boost.

Agree...this was what I was trying to say. To get the HP increase you need the tune and to really see some significant gains...meaning different things to different owners....you need to have the right mods...which I believe white rock and don do have.
