Anyone try a Crios hack on a 997?
I'm thinking about doing the gundo hack. I came across something the bolster guys do, called a Crios hack. You essentially move the clamps between the cat and muffler over to create a slight gap (on both sides). I tried it and it sounds pretty cool. Cruising, it's quiet as usual, but it definitely sounds good when you step on it. Am I hurting anything? I know it's a bit crude, but why not? It's free and you can put it back in 5 minutes. Let me know if this is a bad idea.
On the 370-forum, someone did that and everyone have it a thumbs up. Initially everyone thought it was some brand new exotic system -- till after many pages, the owner explained it was a "washer hack". There should be no problems with it that was mentioned. After all, it's after the cat.

In the old days, Porsche owners used to just punch holes in the mufflers with a screwdriver and hammer. It all works if you're just interested in sound. I don't know if either pipe (leading to and from the muffler) is straight enough to get a large extended drill bit into the muffler itself to punch holes in the baffling, but that would be a better option than a gundo hack (cheaper and easier to do). Ducati owners have done that to the rear silencers for years.
