Thumbs up Yet another SSK fan

Had the OEM short shift kit installed on my 997.2 today along with an OEM turbo shift/**** boot. The **** looks and feels a lot better than the stock one. One I had was pretty tattered from previous owner wearing rings on right hand. Really scratched up.

I can't believe how much more precise the shift action is now. It's not quite to the level of my old S2000 or a GT3, but it's very, very good. Love it.

Numbers I've seen are in the 30% to 35% range. May not sound like much but it has quiet an impact. Best and cheapest mod there is for a manual imo.

That might be a bit of an understatement, I really miss the shifter on my old S2000. The shifter on that was light years better than the SSK on my 997.1..

I installed mine last weekend as well. I had it on my 997.1 and forgot how great it is. Personally, I like the "notchiness" of it.

Also, I would agree that throws are noticeably reduced

You're right, the S2000 had an amazing shifter. I still regret selling the car, as I think it will be a future classic. If I had the garage space I would have kept it. In my opinion, Honda's last great, and probably finest car, along with the NSX.

On a scale of 1-10, of the dozens of manual cars I've driven, the S2000 is a 10 for sure. 997 w/o shift kit is a 6, with, an 8. 997 GT3RS 9. I was surprised how good the GT3 shifter felt after driving a 997.2.
