The beginning sounds a bit like a stuck lifter, but then towards the end it sounded less periodic and more random. Any CELs associated with this.

You could try disconnecting the serpentine belt and seeing if the sound is coming from any of the accessories. Spin them by hand first to test, then try starting with the belt off. Just run it for a brief time like this to see if the sound is there.

...Or just flatbed it.

BTW there's a guy on rennlist right now with a similar sound. It's much easier to hear in his video because of the exhaust. I'm still thinking it's a lifter issue. Do a few searches on it.

Is this a trick question ? Properly running Porsche's aren't supposed to make that noise, ever. I'd have it checked out before you start it up again and turn your engine into a giant paper weight. OMHO.

i dunno fellas, that sounds more like external/something in the exhaust to me. of course, difficult to diagnose source via video...

thanks everyone, i'm hoping for exhaust. so far i removed the serpentine belt to see if that made it go away, no dice. next, i added sea foam to the oil to see if it may be a stuck lifter with a quick fix, no real difference. gonna get under the car tomorrow to check exhaust, kind of thinking that may be it, maybe hole or? in headers? if thats not it, taking it my indy for a lookover before i go the dealership route. hoping for the best. took it for a little ride tonite, 20 mins or so to warm up engine after the sea foam, drove fine, engine didn't explode wish me luck... wouldn't it throw a code if it were nasty internal engine issues?

ive had many vws and that sound reminds me of a rocker arm out of adjustment OR the lifter has collapsed and that is the pushrod hitting the compressed lifter.
