what is the purpose of the plastic key

used as a spare to make new metal one?

It's a wallet key. I don't think Porsche provides them anymore so if your previous owner had this for you very unusual - typically end up lost.

I love my plastic key! I use it once in a while when I want to ditch the huge key when out with the car. I'll leave the big key in a hiding spot in the car, and use the little key to lock the door - in the key hole, and then I'm not stuck with that bulk in my pocket.

I have one too, the previous owner told me it was a valet key so that they couldn't get in the frunk. But of course all you have to do is use the latch lever and you are in the frunk. I like the idea of it being a wallet key, I'm going to see if it fits there, great back up!
