2hr Test drive, 2014 Cayman S
24hr Test drive, 2014 Cayman S
Had the luxury to test drive the Cayman S today. It handles really nice and the PDK shifts pretty quick. It's fast enough for most people. It looks so much better than the previous model. The only thing bad thing I noticed was the tire noise, it's really loud compared to my 911. Didn't check to see what brand they were. It's as loud as my Nitto NT555 on my SLK but those tires are bald. Enough with the talk, here are some pictures.

Beautiful
. Went to drop off the C2S for some work at my dealership this AM and they had just brought in a Guards Red Cayman S for launch tomorrow night. All I can say is the Cayman S is one beauuuuuutiful car, especially with those 20's. Excellence Magazine gave it a very favorable review. Interesting that you mentioned excessive tire noise. Wonder if it's not aligned properly?

I agree the old one just looked ODD, now both the Cayman and Boxster make the older ones look ancient, they look SOOO Much better IMO. That actually looks good with 20's, maybe because the wheelbase is longer, I do not like 20's on a 997, wheelbase is way to small for them IMO.
I agree in White it looks SICK!!!!!!!!

Excessive tire noise is due to Pirelli p-zero's. The brakes also squeals a lot. Personally I think the Boxster is the best looking Porsche right now. My brother in law was driving the Cayman back to the dealership as I followed him. The Cayman almost looks exotic. From my rear view mirror it looked a bit like the Ferrari 360. Definitely looks 100x better than the previous model.
I get invited to their launch parties, where they go over the new models, cater food, give out brochures, etc. At the launch party, you can sign up for a 24hr test drive, it's first come first serve type of deal. They'll have it for 3-4 weeks. I did the same thing for the 2013 Boxster launch. I took the car Saturday and since they are closed Sunday. I didn't have to return it until Monday (almost 48hr test drive). I had thought about trading in the Mercedes (silver one in the garage). But just can't seem to do it. One day I just might end up with a Boxster in the garage.
Here is a picture of the Boxster S I had for 48hrs.

Here is the MB SLK that I still enjoy top down on cool summer nights

By the way I agree the Boxster S is amazing looking, but after test driving it back to back with the 997 my decision was easy. If I ended up going with a Cabrio it would have been a 2013 Boxster, but I decided on a Coupe.
Don't blame you there. Convertibles are nice to have, that's why I kept mine. Best of both worlds.
