997 S Launch Edition Gurus

I have a rare launch edition 1 of 377. How do I find out which production number of the 377 corresponds to my car? Thank you!

No it was not. Just musing out loud.
Would the certificate list the actual production number? (ie: 1 of 377)
It lists all serial numbers in the build as well as show how it was equipped from the factory when sold
so who knows. Specially since it's "limited".

tiyyara is infamous around these parts
Suncoast can get you a VIN read out and Porsche of NA can get you a certificate of authenticity.
Call the 800 number on their website and inquire.

Not sure I understand the "rarity" of the launch edition - I've never heard launch editions characterized as rare...unless you think it is the very first 997 produced. What is it that you are trying to determine - you say you have 1 of 377 - are you trying to find out where this 1 fits into the entire production sequence?

Thank you! Do you know who I would contact at Porsche NA to get the cert of authenticity?

Exactly. Just curious as to which number of the 377 my car would be.

You can order Certificate here:
http://www.porsche.com/usa/accessori...fauthenticity/

But I don't think it will show what you're looking for.

How did you find out there were only 377 of your car?

Thank you for the link!
Its just a fact... 377 launch editions were produced. All in the same color combo and option list. Research it on google. A friend of mine had one and I had to pick one up. Its the only 997 non-turbo I would be happy with. Basically a fully-optioned black/black $100K MSRP 997S.

I believe there were more than 377 produced because I have #379. I hear the total run was around 400 +/- so you are close. Mine has been a daily driver with over 75K miles. It's for sale for those who are interested, but I digress. Will start another thread.

I'm curious to know the total production run as well.

How did you determine yours was #379?

I suspect you guys are looking at the last 3 digits of the VIN.

My old 997 Launch car (sold over a year ago) ended in 337.

I am on my 2nd launch car and really don't consider these cars to be rare. In fact I'd almost consider them the opposite since 300-400 cars are equipped identically. The launch cars are identified by "launch code" as one of the items on the options list. If your car is a black 2005 then it probably has PCCB, PASM, Adaptive seats, Full Leather, Bose, Xenon and some other goodies on it. I have the Porsche certificate of authenticity and it will not show the number in production. It will give you the production completion date, original MSRP, optional equipment, engine/transmission type, exterior paint code, and interior material type and that is all.

What year is your launch car? I guess if you really wanted to know you could go into the Porsche build sheets site and pull each of the build sheets and count which # your car was produced. For the 2005 black launch cars this is what the launch car build sheets looked like

Option Description Price
BASE Porsche Base Model 79,100.00
267 Self Dimming Mirrors 385.00
342 Heated Front Seats 480.00
450 Ceramic Composite Brakes-PCCB 8,150.00
640 Sport Chrono Package Plus 920.00
670 Navigation for PCM 2,070.00
680 Bose High End Sound Package 1,390.00
762 PAG Code - Launch code 0.00
A1 Black Top 0.00
AT Black Full Leather 3,315.00
M6Z Floor Mats Interior Color 0.00
P01L Adaptive Sport Sts Lthr Int 2,695.00
Total Options 19,405.00
