Need Help! 2008 911 S Cabrio stereo

Hi, I'm just purchased my 2nd Porsche after 20 years after I sold my 944 turbo, I just got a 2008 911S cabrio, I love the car, the stereo however is a different thing, no Bluetooth, no Aux input, the basic comforts of a car media system, so I'm wondering if I can swap the head unit with an aftermarket stereo that will allow me to keep the factory amp and speakers, I just want to do a straight swap, no mutilating wires or modifications, is such a thing possible??? any info will be greatly appreciated since I'm just starting to relearn Porsche's.

slammp is infamous around these parts
It is possible - there are double din touch screens on the market which I have seen very good reveiews on - it is NOT cheap as the stereo will likely run you between $700-$1000 and then there is a special wiring adapter you need to purchase specific to the Bose speaker system which I believe runs another $500 or so - thats just the parts. I am in exactly the same boat as you and have decided that this will be more of a long term project as I intend to keep my porsche for a very long time - probably 2-3 years out.

I guess the primary question is what do you want to achieve?

Better sound quality? Bluetooth streaming, ipod integration? Other?

We have a few solutions that might help, and would leave the face of the interior stock. Email with questions/thoughts:

Hi Slammp, thanks for you reply, I called my local dealership and they recommended a local audio shop, this guy gives Bluetooth connectivity for the cel phone (all stereo buttons for the phone on the factory stereo work and remote command the iphone) and the media streaming is done with an iphone 30 pin cable, also the factory stereo will control the iphone, all this while keeping the original stock head unit, about $800 installed, so that is the direction I'm going!

That's a decent price. Let me know how it works functionally.
