Racing is Awesome

I just went to my first track day at PIR in Portland, OR. I had an outstanding time! I had no idea how HARD you have to brake. The 911 is an absolutely incredible machine. I'd love to go to 2-3 more this year but I'm concerned on wear/tear on my car. Thoughts?

if you enjoy it that much, what's to worry about? cars are meant to be enjoyed in whatever fashion you like. i have autoxed, tracked and raced my cars extensively and never regretted it. too many people worry too much about everything that will effect the value of their porsches. it's just a car - go to the track and use it how it was meant to be used. when you need to replace something due to wear, you can either go stock or upgrade (and begin the very slippery slope of track days). 2-3 track days a year will not harm your car in any substantial way as long as you avoid walls, trees, armcos, etc. plus, it's really the only way to see what your car is actually capable of - it's simply not possible on public roads.

after you get your first few: blemishes, failed parts, creaks & squeaks & leaks, etc, you'll get over it. theyre meant to be driven. hard.

Your main costs to start with will be tires, brakes, gas and track fees. There is not much in the car to outright break unless you crash it. Also, you probably won't be pushing the car very hard on the track (compared to an experienced racer) so that will not hurt to keep wear and tear at acceptable levels.

You just did what your car was designed to do. Do it more.
