I was using the Dr. color chip product to touch up a few blemishes. I have a larger chip off the wheel fender. What I notice with metallic finishes is the difficulty getting the glare of the metallic flakes to reduce. The paint color is a match so it isn't that.

Will a clear coat that is tinted a bit work?

 

I have some touch up paint from automotive touchup for 06 arctic silver, looks perfect, had larger rock chip and it looks fine...
