Brake question

Good morning all,

I am fairly new to Porsche and have scheduled some time to scheduled to get my car inspected as I bought it used but have not had a chance to get it checked out yet.

I was checking my tires today when I noticed what appears to be slim round discs (almost paper thin & feel) protruding from the interior of my rear brake discs (took a pic but cant get it to attach).

Can anyone explain what these are? At first glance I can see two on each rear brake disc.

Thanks for any insight!

The pic would definitely help.

Near the rotors then it's likely dust shields. Protruding from the calipers? Need to see the picture.

Picture

I reduced the picture and have been able to get it to upload. Here is what I see on both sides. It seems to sit right behind the rotors on both sides and probably more than one on each side.

Looks like a brake dust shield, #3 in the diagram, also known as cover plate part no 996.352.801.03 They sit inside the rotors and do not move when the wheel rotates. Your front axle has them too.

This would be a great time to read the manuals that came with the car as you will have many questions if you have never owned a Porsche. Enjoy your car.
