Multi function steering wheel upgrade on 997.2?

I have a 2010 Carrera 4S Cab 6 speed manual with a standard steering wheel with the heated function. My old '04 645CI Cab had the phone and audio controls on the wheel, and I really miss the easy access (and messing with the control ***** in the PCM 3.0 is a pain).

I have found what looks to be a pretty straightforward steering wheel facia upgrade on Suncoast parts:

When I asked my local Porsche dealer about it, they told me they were not aware of any facia upgrade option and told me that I needed to replace the entire wheel (for upwards of $3,000!). Has anyone had any experience with this upgrade and does it do everything that the OEM wheel does? Looking for help on this from anyone who has looked into this or done the upgrade.

I had this done recently by my dealer.

It took a few days, but they got it installed and working.

The only thing that doesn't yet work is customizing the screen button from the PCM. The PCM is unaware of the multi-fuction wheel.

Great, thanks for sharing that. The new wheel looks fantastic. Did you install an entirely new MF steering wheel or just raplce the facia with the MF capabilities? I have heard that the facia upgrade is only slightly less expensive than a brand new MF steering wheel. Which path did you take for your upgrade?

Awesome, thanks. I spoke to SunCoast yesterday and got a price for a brand new heated, MF wheel, which I may opt for as the easier (lazier!) choice. Thanks for that

You would need the facia - with the buttons on it obviously, and an upgraded steering wheel controller (that is for the MF buttons). And you may need a new slip ring for the steering wheel (to transmit the signals from the button facia out to the controller.

You should not need a new wheel or airbag, as those parts stay just as they are.
