Illuminated door sills
Cool, I called Jerry today and ordered mine.
I do have a questions about the install.
How sharp are the edges on the overlay? Do you think there might be an issue later on about scraping the paint or does it ride high enough ontop of the old sill that it doesn't really hit?
FYI,
Jerry said that he has 5 on order right now. Depending on the interest, he may order a few more in advance, but as of now, the first 5, well the next 3 since myself and one other have already ordered will get the first allocation.
He also said that he can make that S any color that is listed in the email. So, whomever ordered earlier today and didn't want the red S, you could order it with a blue S if you so choose.
I will be posting on renn*list also so, he may start getting more orders.

somebody already asked that question, funny enough with the exact same wording, and it's been answered, go to page-one for the answer
Talked to Jerry. 4, including myself, have already called in with orders. Sills wont ship until we get the 5 orders. So, if you were on the fence and wanted to get in on this first batch, before he has to order another 5, please do so.
I will be posting up on Rennlist later today, so that last spot may go faster.

Just called in my order taking the group buy up to five. We're good to go.
Jerry answered a lot of questions, very helpful. The stainless steel overlay comes from Taiwan.
He's out of stock right now so the next shipment will be a couple of weeks out. His vendor wants
to fill a shipping container with stainless steel orders to various customers before shipping. I'm
expecting Jerry to ship in 3 to 4 weeks from now.
The backlighting is four LED's in a mylar diffusor for nice uniform lighting. The mylar is white so
no coloring is needed for white light. The red 'S' is done with theater lighting gel (paint?). Overall
the backlight is about 2mm thick. It adheres with 3M like automotive doublesided tape, another
2.4mm or so.
I asked about if there are any concerns with water in that area. My sills do get wet when I wash
the car. He's not concerned as the backlighting is sealed up pretty good. Plus there is the 2.4mm
spacing from the tape. He's not suggesting they are waterproof, more like water resistant. He's
been providing illuminated sills for the MB crowd for 13 years and never had a water issue.

From what he told me only the listed options, however, give Jerry a call and ask what the posibilities are for the next shipments are to get Turbo.
S4alex, thank you very much! I also emailed Jerry and told him I would like to have Carrera S all in red! If I don't hear from him in the next hour or so I will call. I have LED lighting on the whole interior so I thought I would go with just a subdued red on the thresholds. It doesn't need anymore bright lighting with the doors LED's or the foot panels, so I thought all red might look pretty kool!:-)
